Better Pixels Photography Workshops

Better Pixels Photography Workshops (BPPW) is an initiative whose aim is to improve on the skill & careers of Kenyan photographer’s, by bringing together professional photographers to train, share & mentor beginners & semi professional photographer’s.

BPPW targets at hosting 24 workshop’s annually, on technical aspects, starting out photography, career mentorship & specific subjects of photography. The workshops organising team works out low workshop attendance fees, workshops countrywide, & hence reaching more photographers.

Gibson Maina
Gibson Maina Workshops Director
Gibs is a professional photographer based in Nairobi. He has 19 years experience as a full time photographer. He began by working as a photo lab printer, then followed his passion to photography.
He has worked through various genre of photography, but narrowed down to specialize in product photography.

Gibs has been a photography mentor & tutor since 2011, specializing in technical camera control & lighting.

His passion for training photography lead him to establishing Better Pixels Photography Workshops.

Innocent Akunda
Innocent Akunda Logistics Manager
Innocent is a young budding photographer with a bias towards photo editing. Armed with several years of experience in logistics and planning for Buccaneers Handball Team and Saikle Tours and Travel. Innocent has the passion and vision of taking the workshops nearer to the people who need it, famously christened “workshop Mashinani”.

Meet Our Tutors

BPPW workshops trainer's and presenter's are carefully selected, experienced, Kenyan based photographer's, who take time to carefully piece together workshop's, considering the challenges and needs of the Kenyan photography industry.
Gibson
Gibson BPPW Workshops Director, Product Photographer & Photography Trainer
Gibson has 20yrs experience in photography : as a photo lab printer, events weddings & studio photographer. He now specializes in product photography.
He has also been a photography tutor & mentor since 2011, passionate & very patient with training photography.
Eric
Eric Documentary, Art & Nature Photographer
Eric is a Kenyan based photographer, with 11years wealth of experience.

His photography work has been exhibited on many occasions, & has inspired many upcoming & professional photographer's to explore new possibilities & shoot creatively.
Eric also hosts macro & nature photography workshops, & is a well respected photography mentor.

David
David Wedding, Studio & Wildlife Photographer
David is a Kenyan based photographer & an entrepreneur.

His photography journey has been an inspiration to many photographer's, & has a wealth of wisdom in the photography business & industry.

John
John Filmmaker / Photographer
John is a fellow of the Mohammed Amin Foundation. His works have been nominated & awarded several photography & film awards.
He has travelled widely around Africa working for various organizations, & also conducting workshops as a certified Canon trainer.

OUR WORKSHOPS CENTRE

Our base workshops centre is well suited for its purpose
135 BTL Estate, opp Bidco Industrial Park
Ruiru-Kamiti Road,
RUIRU.
The location is easily accessible via self drive or public transport, away from the hustle of the city.
A well ventilated, well lit space enough for small workshops of up to 30 people.
The space doubles up as Gibs Photography studio and office, hence it is fully equipped for practical photography workshops.
It has parking areas, wifi, projection, a lounge, a balcony, smoking area, and a kitchen to supply tea and hot meals.
